Great quality food for superb prices. The customer service was excellent! (which is rare now and days). I had the Philly cheese steak sandwich. It was delicious. The meat was tender, and veggies were sautéed to perfection. Note for first timers: Pay your bill at the cashier that is located at the entrance; They validate a hour and a half (1.5hrs) of parking from the location across the street; They don't have personal menus, their menus are on the walls.

Where to begin! I loved this place so much I went two days in a row. My favourite restaurant that I tried on my trip.
I am an early bird so I arrived pretty early and could sit straight away at the bar ( which I loved because you can watch them cooking). Note, if you come later you will need to queue up outside.
The service is fast and everyone is polite. The first day I had french toast. So good! I couldn't finish it all but it was a great snack for later on that day. The next day I had biscuits and gravy with sausage, potatoes and egg. So delicious as well.
If you're in the area don't miss this place!

A true LA staple! It’s no wonder this place has been in business for so LONG. The food is delicious, the portions are LARGE, and the prices are CHEAP! I ordered the #2: two eggs with potatoes and scrumptious, THICK slices of sourdough bread. On top of that, I sent away for a side of DELICIOUS coleslaw. The total came out to only $12! WHAT A STEAL!

Amazing place! Had to wait in line for a while, but most definitely worth the wait, I Promise! Great home cooked food! We sat at the countertop, which was perfect and fast service. The Coleslaw was perfect, which I just had to try because I've heard it was amazing! Coffee was a Must! The french toast was one of the best I've ever had. Also don't forget to try their sourdough bread its soooo good! Bacon was nice and thick, not like McDonald's bacon! Potatoes are perfect with a crunch, and the omelets were so cheesy and just overall good. Everyone was nice and the atmosphere was good. I definitely can't wait to come back!
* Alex is the Best! Definitely recommend for Fast service 😊

6/5 stars - yep, that extra star is needed!!
Ok so I was visiting LA and kept seeing this huge line outside Pantry Cafe for breakfast. Usually I'd walk away from long lines but something told me to stick around... and boy am I glad I did!
Kept it simple and got their cheese omelette (sometimes that's the best way to judge a place, right?). Holy moly - they knocked it out of the park! The omelette was perfect in every way - super fluffy, loaded with cheese that was melted juuust right, and the portion size was actually impressive. Like, this wasn't one of those sad little omelets you get at chain restaurants.
And can we talk about their coffee? Because it was exactly what you need in the morning - strong, fresh, and they kept refilling without having to chase anyone down. Major points for that!
I totally get why locals line up here now. The vibe is exactly what you want - busy but in a good way, staff who actually seem to care, and just feels like a proper downtown breakfast spot, you know?
Pro tip: either drag yourself out of bed early or be ready to wait. But honestly? Worth setting an alarm for. Already planning my next visit whenever I'm back in LA. Finding spots like this is what makes traveling fun!
PS - to everyone who recommended this place on different forums - you weren't lying! 🙌

Very interesting experience for a European person as this brought me back to the American movies and their diners. The food was very good, the atmosphere was nice as well and I am glad I got to experience this place. Prices were fair as well and all in all the whole experience was worthwhile.

🥞 The best American breakfast place ever in Los Angeles downtown 🥯🍳 i’m a visitor from Dallas and my friend told me this is the most place to visit.
They built since almost 100 years ago. We went there around 11 AM and waited 30 minutes. Though it was Rush hour, there was a lot of people.
The service was great, they were very nice. We’ve got to sit in front of the bar and watch how they cook. The price was reasonable, and the pancake was on point!!! 🥞 I didn’t expect how the pancake will taste. And I ordered French toast was OK. Next time I wanna try omelettes. Definitely recommending this place and I’m coming back. 🥰🫠

A must visit when in LA!
My friends and I went during our long weekend visit in LA, and it was so worth it.
No reservations, only walk-ins and it is a wait, a wait that is really worth it!
It’s a lovely vintage style restaurant and brunch, lovely and attentive staffs (10/10 for customer service)
Good; outstanding and so delicious. Very very filling, my friends and I cleaned out plate, and weren’t hungry until late dinner. Worth it and price too, thank you (10/10).

Food is as it says in the name of the place “The Original”. Been coming here for years (20+ years), mostly for late night breakfast. Food is incredible. I can never finish a meal alone. I love the breakfast bar. This is where I’d recommend for anyone to sit if it’s your first time. Stick to breakfast, fluffy pancakes, mouthwatering ham n sausage, hash browns to die for. Hope they never change.

The best breakfast place I have ever been to. The pancakes were fluffy and delicious. Sausage was out of this world good and juicy, the more you taste it the better it gets. Potatoes got good crisp on the outside. Always ask for salsa, very hard to pass! Best salsa I have ever had. Put it on top of your scrambled eggs! Portion is huge and price is very very good. The quality and taste are very consistent. We can tell that the cooks got some serious skills! Service was quick and amazing. They are very friendly and attentive, you will never see your coffee mug empty with these guys. Very well run restaurant. We got here 2 times in our 5 days trip. They take cash and cards for payment. Line gets pretty long on Saturday morning.
